This was written for
threesentenceficathon's 2024 ficathon, responding to the prompt FE Fates, Niles/anyone, you know he trusts you when he takes off the eyepatch.
Title: A Scar Bared at Last
Fandom: Fire Emblem: Fates
Characters/Pairing: male Corrin/Niles
Rating: barely PG (mild references to eye loss; quite fluffy otherwise)
Summary: Niles finally takes off his eyepatch in front of Corrin, his husband.
-
Niles has been staying in Corrin's private quarters for some time now since the two of them had gotten married, and they've done and shared many things with each other in that time, but only tonight is he finally untying and removing the patch covering where his right eye once was in front of him.
Corrin holds his husband's face in his hands as he often does and traces a gentle thumb over the scarring; his heart sinks slightly at recalling Niles's words from before about how he'd lost his eye as a child, but at the same time, his heart is warm because this is how much the man he loves trusts him now, after he'd been so guarded back when they'd started getting to know one another, and even after he'd opened up to him since then this is the first time he's being so vulnerable in this particular way before him.
He kisses his beautiful husband on the scar, close to where the eye would be; Niles responds by taking Corrin's face into his own hands and kissing him back, on the lips.
-
As always, comments and constructive criticism are both welcome and appreciated.
